The Spey Valley course was designed by golf architect Dave Thomas and benefits
from some of the most spectacular golfing scenery in the Highlands of Scotland.
There are some glorious views from around the course, which is overlooked by
the Cairngorm mountains.
The course opened in 2006 and is generally considered to be an excellent addition
to inland golf in Scotland, providing a contrast to the more visited links courses
around the coast. The course has heathland and woodland holes and even a touch of
links style fairways.
Spey Valley is a testing golf course. There is plenty of heather and gorse to contend with as
well as strategically placed bunkers on almost every hole. Many of the holes
feature elevated tees. As with many modern courses there are a choice of
tee-ing grounds to ensure the course offers both interest and challenge to all levels
of golfer. The course is long, at over 7,100 yards, and was originally designed
to be played from buggies.
