Tain Golf Club is a traditional Highland links course, just 9 miles south of
Dornoch. The golf course was designed by Old Tom Morris and, at just over 6,400
yards long, is a championship length links.
Tain overlooks the Dornoch Firth and offers a particularly scenic setting for a
round of golf, taking in sea on the one side, and mountains on the other.
Accuracy is important here as there is an abundance of gorse, broom and thick
rough around the fairways. The golf course is laid out over a large area and
each hole has its own particular character. The 3rd hole, a par 4, with a dog
leg to the left, is considered one of the best links holes in the British Isles.
The 17th, a long par 3 with takes you twice over the same burn, is
acknowledged as one the top 18 holes designed by Old Tom Morris anywhere in
Scotland.
If you are considering travelling to the Dornoch area as part of your golfing
tour in Scotland, then we recommend you consider playing at the welcoming Tain
golf course.
